| Prior to the Main adit being cleared, the only means of access to the mine was by single rope technique. This specialised principal of abseiling down and prusiking back up the same rope is used by mines and caving groups worldwide. To the left of the picture can be seen the huge wooden rod of the Man Engine. The 'flare' of light is from a floodlight higher in the shaft. |
