Mines Group workforce clearing hillside at the site where the orange smoke appeared. The earlier survey was accurate to within two feet. Being adjacent to a housing estate, it was decided to clear the growth and dig in to the side of the old spoil heap manually rather than use a digger at this early stage. Fortunately, the line of the tunnel has revealed that no trees will have to be removed when the the new track to the main adit is laid.
