The group was  asked to carry out the rebuild work and after all the security fencing had been fitted by the lands division, a survey and report was compiled.

The first task was to clear the west side of the shaft down to good ground and construct a series of bridges and working platforms. Safety lines were rigged enabling the shaft crew to work on the ledge deeper in the shaft.

Filling the shaft was out of the question as the fall was only resting on another intact platform and so it was decided to cap the shaft

After the removal of loose material, the rebuilding of the wall commenced
