Laurence Marsh abseiling into the shaft at the Glen cherry mine. The shaft is 273 feet deep and has a partly flooded adit level emerging further down the valley. For many years the mine was used for rescue practice and breaking in new members. The through trip offered further adventure after the 60 foot abseil as the only way out was to brave the cold water which slowly crept up to chest depth before daylight was seen. |
