The open area in the foreground would have housed the boiler and the small room on the right would have contained some form of small steam engine for the purpose of winding.

It is believed that the shaft lies in the enclosed left side of the structure. The bolts on the top of the walls were to hold down the timbers that would have supported bearings for revolving machinery.
