The sheave wheel that was dug out from the side of the engine house. The wheel was found broken into three pieces and was put together for the picture. With a circumference of almost fifteen feet, it would appear to be over sized for a shaft only forty seven fathoms deep. The groove is six inches across and five inches deep whilst the cable was just over half an inch diameter. |
