Lodes and mines map of the Isle of Man. The veins of the northern group run on a north - south direction whilst the central group through Glen Rushen and Foxdale run west - east along the Foxdale shear. There are over one hundred mines on the Island from major workings to small trials, of which many produced very little if nothing at all . There are around two hundred shafts throughout all the mines of which only a handful can be accounted for.
