The washing floors.

After the ore had been brought to the surface, it was trammed to the stamp house for the start of the dressing process.

The pit in the center of the picture contained a small water wheel some fifteen feet in diameter to work the machinery for the rotary buddles. The ore having been crushed to a pulp would then be ran into the buddles for refining.

The discharged water from this wheel would then have been used for the washing process.
