Iemco rocker shovel on track ready to start work. The machine uses compressed air and is operated by one man standing at the controls on the nearside, however, due to the narrow nature of this section of adit, the machine was modified to operate remotely.The rocker would advance forward, digging the lowered bucket into the spoil and then 'flip' the load of one quarter of a ton into the tub behind. The loaded tub would then be detached and removed for tipping.The work was carried out by Derbyshire based specialist mining engineers
